You're viewing this page with a browser that doesn't understand the APPLET tag. If you were using a Java-enabled browser that understood the APPLET tag, you'd see Othello here.

  • A valid move is when you can place your color on a empty position next to one of your opponents colors and can flip at leat one opposing disc.
  • A disc may outflank any number of discs in one or more rows - horizontally, vertically or diagonally - at the same time.
  • A player may not skip over his own color disc to outflank an opposing disc.
  • When it is no longer possible for either player to move, the game is over. Discs are counted and the player with the majority of his color discs face up on the board wins.

Note: This a computer simulated Othello game. You don't have to outflank opposing discs or look for a valid position to place your disc. All you need to do is move your mouse to the one of the cross marks of your color (that stand for a valid position to place your disc) and click the left mouse button. The computer will do all the dirty work for you. If there are no valid moves, you have to press the pass button in order to bypass that move.
